Business automation and artificial intelligence are reshaping how organizations operate. Automation and agentic AI tools are now more accessible than ever, empowering companies and individuals of every size to do more, faster.
This transformation goes beyond simple efficiency gains. We are entering an era of no-code business process automation and agentic transformation. Tools like n8n and Zapier, along with AI systems such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, Manus, and Replit, are moving from question-and-answer assistants to autonomous platforms that can execute complex, goal-driven workflows.

Organizations are saving employees countless hours on routine tasks, accelerating innovation, and streamlining operations at scale. We asked: why shouldn’t these benefits apply to domain portfolio and DNS management?
With 101domain, they do.
We are excited to announce the launch of the 101domain API and MCP Server — a modern toolset that brings programmatic control, automation, and AI-driven capabilities to domain and DNS management.
Two powerful ways to connect
Whether you are an engineer managing global DNS pipelines, an administrator overseeing a large domain portfolio, or a marketing team coordinating domain campaigns, these tools are built to support real business workflows.
The 101domain RESTful API – Our secure, RESTful API provides programmatic access to manage domain portfolios and account data. Endpoints use HTTPS and return standardized JSON, enabling integration with corporate applications, ERPs, developer tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
AI-powered management via the 101domain MCP Server – The 101domain MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server allows AI agents to interact with our API through conversational chat. By connecting the MCP Server to AI clients like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor, or to automation platforms such as n8n and Zapier, you can search, purchase, analyze, and manage domains using natural language—no coding required.
Security first, then loads of possibilities
Domain names and DNS are critical business assets, so we designed these tools with a hybrid prosumer/enterprise model that combines developer-friendly flexibility with robust security.
- Restricted key generation: API keys can only be created and managed by the account’s primary user.
- Mandatory 2FA or SSO: Access to Developer Settings and API key issuance requires Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) or Single Sign-On (SSO) on the primary user account.
- Granular API scopes: We enforce least-privilege through API scopes. You can issue up to ten distinct API keys, each with tailored permissions. For example, you can grant a webmaster an API key with only dns:read and dns:write permissions so they can manage DNS records without broader account access.
What you can do today
Our API and MCP Server are live and available for immediate use. Current capabilities include:
- Domain search and TLD intelligence: Check availability for up to 50 domains at once and retrieve pricing, character limits, and registration requirements for thousands of supported TLDs.
- Domain and DNS information: Retrieve a full or filtered list of your portfolio, view expiration dates, active add-ons, auto-renewal settings, nameservers, and individual DNS records.
- Manage web forwarding: Programmatically look up, create, modify, or delete 301 redirects and cloaked forwarding for marketing and promotional URLs.
- Financial oversight: Retrieve your current available balance instantly to support budgeting and reconciliation.
For available API endpoints, consult our OpenAPI documentation.
These MCP tools are already available to help you work with your domains conversationally:

Real-world API and MCP use cases to inspire you
Here are practical examples of what you can build with 101domain today:
With the 101domain API:
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Integrate with CI/CD pipelines to verify DNS records automatically before deployments.
- Custom portfolio dashboards: Synchronize domain data with IT asset tools or BI systems to keep expiration dates, statuses, and costs current.
- Real-time portfolio insights: Retrieve upcoming renewals, domain statuses, and configuration details in real time.
- ERP and accounting integration: Pull invoice details and balances into NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or other financial systems to automate tracking.
With the 101domain MCP Server Tools:
- Conversational domain search and discovery: Ask your AI assistant, “Find me five available .ai domains related to ‘machine learning’ and tell me the total cost to register them.”
- Troubleshooting web forwarding: Ask, “Where is my domain promo.com forwarding to?” and receive an immediate answer.
- Automated security audits: Prompt the AI to check your portfolio for domains missing specific registry statuses or protections.
- DNS mapping: Query which domains use a particular DNS provider or which domains lack specific DNS records, such as an SPF policy.
Innovation at speed: What’s coming next
The launch of the 101domain API and MCP Server is the start of an ongoing rollout. We will continue releasing new endpoints and tools as they are ready rather than waiting for major version milestones.
Planned near-term capabilities include:
- Register and renew domains: Move from searching to full domain ownership via API or MCP.
- DNS and contact management: Full programmatic write access to create, update, and delete DNS records and contact handles across your portfolio.
- Financial integration: Access detailed order history, invoice line items, and transaction logs to automate accounting reconciliations.
- Advanced portfolio organization: A Groups feature will let you segment domain assets into isolated buckets with distinct permissions. API keys will respect group permissions to support large, multi-team portfolios.
Get started and stay updated
We release updates frequently. Starting now ensures you’ll be ready as new features go live. Recommended steps:
- Generate your keys: Enable 2FA or SSO on your primary account, then visit Developer Settings to issue up to ten API keys with custom scopes.
- Explore the live API documentation: Our OpenAPI documentation is kept current and is the authoritative source for available endpoints and release notes.
- Connect your AI tools: Consult our knowledge base for guides on connecting the MCP Server to your preferred AI clients and automation platforms.
- Refresh your MCP client: As we add endpoints, new MCP tools will be released. Refresh your tools regularly to access new features.
We’re excited to bridge traditional domain management with the future of autonomous, AI-driven operations.
Happy automating!
