Decoding DNS Abuse vs. Website Content Abuse
The DNS acts as the internet’s phonebook, a hierarchical and decentralized naming system that allows users to access websites and online services by typing easy-to-remember domain names (like “google.com”) instead of complex numerical IP addresses. Such drastic action can inadvertently penalize legitimate users and services hosted on the same domain, impacting innocent parties who have no connection to the abuse. This underscores the need for careful consideration and adherence to the established framework before taking severe measures, balancing the need for security with the preservation of legitimate online presence and free expression.
